These are the skills and tasks required to be one of our adventure guides. 

  • Must be knowledgeable about the area and the activity, prepared to safely guide clients throughout the experience
    • Must possess the requisite knowledge and training with regard to conditions at sea as well as on lakes and rivers both during summer and winter. 
    • On-the-water training on proper usage of towlines is required before leading an activity.
    • Establish a prepared and safe trip by verifying that the area is available and weather conditions are acceptable, proactively communicating with administrative staff ahead of time
  • Must be able to adequately prepared for all tours and trips
    • Prepare a lesson/float plan, 
    • Obtain a signed waiver from each Client
    • Prepare all vehicles and equipment prior to the client’s arrival
  • Must be able to guide clients through experience with approachable demeanor and safety focus
    • Review the class outline with clients, instructing them on proper technique, and explaining the communication terminology and signals used while on the water, the contingency plans for emergencies and accidents, and the hazards of the activity.
    • Be proactively attentive to all clients to ensure the best possible experience. Assist clients with launching their boat. If it’s a Client’s first time in a boat, the Instructor/Guide must provide extra instruction so that the Client’s boat doesn’t capsize when they’re first on the water. Once the Clients have successfully launched, the Instructor/Guide gives clear direction on a rally point or boundaries to congregate within while other clients launch their boats.
    • Keep the group close together and constantly checks the surroundings, Clients, and potential hazards
    • Provide clear direction on where the clients should be heading, breaking up long distances with periods of rest
    • Direct and assist clients while landing boats
  • Assist with the clean up after a tour to ensure a smooth process
    • Verify that all the gear and equipment has been returned
    • Load the gear and equipment, securing it for safe transport
    • Unload and clean all gear and equipment, staging it for easy loading for the next Activity. 
    • Any damage or loss that occurred during the trip must be notated on the Equipment Checklist, which is then turned into the manager/Safety Program Admin
    • Files all waivers, checklists, and any Incident/Injury reports for the trip
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds throughout the Activity
  • Able to assist moving large or bulky items up to eighty (80) pounds
  • Able to bend and stretch to place and retrieve items
  • Able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Able to wear a wetsuit
  • Able to withstand cold and hot climates and poor weather conditions

    • Must have sound knowledge and experience of this surfing, both in summer and winter conditions and shall have completed at least a course on first aid.

    • Assistant Instructors should be able to perform the following:
      • 500 yard open water swim in less than 15 minutes, may include surf zone entry / exit with waves up to 3 feet
      • Stand up surf and body surf gently cresting and white water waves up to 3 feet comfortably

    As an Assistant Manager, you will learn and demonstrate all Company and departmental policies and procedures. You will then be scheduled to fill in as the Manager on Duty when other managers are absent.

    When filling in as Manager on Duty, you will:
    Monitor rest and lunch breaks of scheduled staff
    Ensure that all departments complete their daily checklists and projects, assisting as needed
    Address customer complaints regarding sales and service
    Communicate with staff and management
    Monitor sales, customer service, and productivity
    Enforce safety, health, and security rules

    When not scheduled as Manager on Duty, you will be trained as a sales lead and cashier. During these scheduled times, you will:
    Perform all POS procedures
    Assist with department merchandising
    Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers, and responding to customer inquiries and complaints
    Work with the Store Manager and buyers with inventory balancing, transferring, promotional events and seasonal floor shifts

    At all times, we need someone who can:
    Consistently provide outstanding customer service
    Represent the Company professionally and positively
    Be available to work holidays, special events, and weekends

    Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
    Able to lift and carry up to five (5) pounds overhead to highest shelf and back down
    Able to assist moving large or bulky items up to eighty (80) pounds
    Able to use carts and hand trucks to move heavy items and loads
    Able to bend and stretch to place and retrieve products and signs on the highest and lowest shelves
    Able to navigate around clothing racks, product shelves and displays
    Able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
    Able to climb stairs and ladders on a daily basis
    Keep a clean, safe workplace at all times
